Job Overview

Royal Mail P&FS is recruiting a Resident Electrical and Maintenance Engineer based at Manchester Mail Centre. The role involves overseeing technical diagnosis, solutions, and leadership at a critical site, ensuring seamless operations and service excellence. Responsibilities include routine maintenance, fault identification, equipment maintenance, and managing subcontractors. Building strong relationships with on-site customers and supporting fellow engineers' development are key aspects.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose complex technical issues and provide guidance.
• Analyze and troubleshoot electrical challenges.
• Ensure KPIs are met and exceeded.
• Lead engineers and subcontractors, fostering teamwork.
• Maintain electrical and M&E equipment.
• Oversee subcontractor operations for compliance and efficiency.
• Collaborate with support functions to optimize site operations.
• Maintain relationships with client representatives.

Candidate Requirements

• 18th Edition certification.
• Experience in planned maintenance of electrical systems and one other core skill (Gas, HVAC, or mechanical maintenance).
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks.
• Experience with electrical systems such as BEMs, Multi and Group Control lifts.
• Fault-finding and diagnostic skills, with the ability to advise others.
• Effective communication skills, especially explaining technical issues.
• Experience in training or developing engineers.
• Flexibility for call-out and standby activities.
• Full UK manual driving license with no more than 6 penalty points.

Benefits & Details

Salary: £39,443.02 to £42,756.19 per annum, plus standby allowance (£290/week), overtime, 22.5 days annual leave (rising to 25), and bank holidays.

Contract: Permanent, full-time (37.5 hours/week), typically 08:00-16:00, Monday to Friday, with flexibility required.

Out of hours callout rota: 1 in 4 weeks, covering a wider area.
