Job summary

EF (Education First) Brighton is seeking a Residence Manager to oversee international student accommodations and lead a dedicated team. You will ensure a welcoming, safe home environment, allocate students to residences, and uphold high standards across all EF residences in Brighton.

The role emphasizes customer service, student welfare, and working within a globally recognized education organization. A flexible schedule and DBS/reference checks are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in residence or hotel management or similar role desirable.
• Customer service-oriented and able to communicate effectively with students and staff.
• Flexible hours and ability to respond to student needs.
• Right to work in the UK and DBS checks will be required.

Responsibilities

• Allocate students to suitable accommodations and maintain high residence standards.
• Work with Facilities to ensure residences are safe, well-maintained and welcoming.
• Recruit, train and manage a team of staff.
• Oversee budgeting, occupancy optimisation and financial processes.
• Handle student inquiries and issues, and liaise with sales colleagues.
• Produce the Residence Handbook and manage bookings and changes to bookings.

Your Role

In this role, you’ll lead a dedicated team responsible for ensuring our international students have a welcoming, safe and comfortable home from home environment. You’ll allocate students to suitable accommodations, maintain the high standards of each residence, and support your team in addressing any student inquiries or concerns. Responsibilities

• Allocating accommodation
• Working with the Facilities team to ensure EF residences are well maintained, safe and welcoming
• Recruiting, training & managing a team of staff
• Financial management including following budgets and optimising occupancy
• Management of external services & liaison with suppliers such as cleaning, security, laundry & equipment companies
• Efficient administration of all aspects of residential accommodation
• Managing student enquiries and issues
• Communicating effectively with sales colleagues
• Confirming bookings and changes to bookings within our Gold Standards
• Emergency phone duties on rota
• To ensure the highest level of customer service and satisfaction
• To support students in their daily life and enable them to achieve the best experience
• To produce the Residence Handbook and ensure that it is kept up to date

Requirements

• A flexible approach to hours of work undertaken is essential
• Experience of managing or leading a team desirable
• Experience in residence or hotel management or similar role desirable
• Highly motivated, energetic, positive
• Innovative and creative, with a desire to deliver an exceptional service
• Customer service orientated, friendly & approachable manner
• Able to remain calm under pressure & to diffuse potentially difficult situations
• Sensitive to needs of international students living away from home
• Excellent communicator with students, colleagues, and external clients
• Attention to detail, organized & thorough
• Right to work in the UK
• Clear DBS check and two references
• Right to work in the UK at commencement of employment
• Clean DBS check and two references required
