Job summary

EF York Summer School is seeking Activity Leaders to organize and lead a range of activities, events and excursions for international students. The role combines leadership, teamwork and a hands-on approach to creating memorable experiences in a safe, supportive environment.

You will work six days a week on a fixed-term contract from late June to mid August 2027, with accommodation and full board provided if needed.

Qualifications

• Must be energetic, responsible and able to engage with international students.
• Experience with organizing activities and leading groups is a plus.
• Clear enhanced DBS check and two references required.

Responsibilities

• Leads groups of international students on activities, events, ceremonies and day trips.
• Creates a lively atmosphere and delivers excellent customer service during excursions.
• Facilitates activities that encourage English use, cultural sharing and peer connection.
• Takes responsibility for health, safety and well-being, following EF risk assessments and procedures.
• Coordinates with co-leaders and the Activities and Events Manager to improve future activities.
• Ensures EF behaviour code is followed and reports issues promptly.
• Supports delivery of a two-day, overnight residential programme in London if applicable.

Job Description

EF (Education First) York Summer School is seeking enthusiastic and outgoing individuals to join our Activities & Events Team as Activity Leaders for summer 2027. In this role, you will organize and lead activities, events and excursions, creating an unforgettable experience for international students.

Position Details

• Full-time
• 6 days a week
• Fixed-term contract between late June – mid August 2027 (minimum two-week commitment)
• Accommodation and full board provided if necessary

Every day is different – from city trips, to themed parties and interactive games. You’ll play a key part in helping students feel welcome, confident and connected, while also developing your own leadership and communication skills in a fun and multicultural environment. It’s a highly rewarding role that allows you to make a real impact on students’ lives while enjoying a memorable and fulfilling summer yourself.

Responsibilities

• Leads groups of international students on a variety of activities, events, ceremonies and day trips
• Creates a lively atmosphere throughout the site and during excursions, all while delivering excellent customer service
• Help students break cultural barriers and build friendships by facilitating activities that get them speaking English, sharing their cultures and learning from one another
• Takes responsibility for health, safety and well-being of all students, including completing and adhering to risk assessments and emergency situations in line with EF policy and procedures
• Liaises with co-leaders and the Activities and Events Manager to discuss how to improve future activities, events, ceremonies and day trips
• Ensures the EF behaviour code is always followed by all students and informs the management immediately if there are any issues or problems
• If applicable, ensure the successful delivery of a two-day, overnight residential programme in London at the end of the students’ programme

Requirements

• Highly motivated, energetic and positive with a sociable and outgoing personality
• Confident in leading and managing groups of students
• Highly organized and thorough, able to use initiative and work unsupervised
• Ability to handle difficult situations with ease and remain calm under pressure
• Customer service mindset
• Appreciation of cultural differences and sensitive to the needs of international students
• A flexible approach to work and hours of work undertaken is essential
• Is a trained First Aider (preferable but not essential)
• Experience with 7-14 year olds (preferable but not essential)
• All offers are subject to a clear enhanced DBS check and two references
• Right to work in the UK on commencement of employment
