Job summary

International Association of Insurance Professionals (IAIP) in London seeks an FIA-qualified actuary to lead quarterly reserving reviews for Lloyd's and London Market business. You will produce reserve recommendations for senior management and committees, and collaborate across underwriting, finance and risk to drive accurate, timely analyses.

Qualifications

  • Strong reserving experience within Lloyd's syndicate, managing agent or London Market insurer.
  • Excellent understanding of non-life reserving techniques and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience communicating technical findings to actuarial and non-actuarial stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills with a pragmatic and commercially focused approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.

Job description

The Role
  • Lead quarterly reserving reviews across a diverse portfolio of Lloyd's and London Market business.
  • Produce reserve recommendations and communicate results to senior management and reserving committees.
  • Work closely with underwriting teams to understand portfolio performance, emerging trends and claims developments.
  • Deliver analysis to support business planning, forecasting and strategic decision-making.
  • Contribute to reserve risk parameterisation and the wider capital model process.
  • Support Solvency II, Lloyd's and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Drive improvements in reserving methodologies, processes and governance.
  • Manage and mentor junior actuarial team members, supporting their technical and professional development.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Claims, Risk and Underwriting teams across a range of business initiatives.
About You
  • FIA qualified actuary.
  • Strong reserving experience gained within a Lloyd's syndicate, managing agent or London Market insurer.
  • Excellent understanding of non-life reserving techniques and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience communicating technical findings to both actuarial and non-actuarial stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills with a pragmatic and commercially focused approach.

  • Previous mentoring or supervisory experience would be advantageous.
