Job summary

Eames Consulting is seeking an experienced reserving actuary to own the reserving function across Lloyd's and London Market classes. You will partner with underwriting, finance and executives to translate technical findings into strategic business insights.

The role blends technical reserving with stakeholder management and team leadership, offering visibility and impact within a growing business. Hybrid working with 2–3 days in the London office is available.

Qualifications

  • FIA qualification or equivalent.
  • Extensive reserving experience within Lloyd's or London Market.
  • Experience leading reserve reviews and communicating recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience managing projects and mentoring junior actuarial staff.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and financial reporting requirements.
  • Commercial mindset with ability to translate findings into business insight.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the quarterly reserving process across Lloyd's and London Market classes.
  • Review reserve analyses, recommend booking levels and present results to senior management.
  • Own reserving governance, documentation and validation processes.
  • Provide reserving insights to underwriting teams, identifying trends and risks.
  • Support regulatory reporting, audit requirements and Solvency UK deliverables.
  • Partner with Finance on financial reporting and business planning.
  • Drive continuous improvement and automation within reserving.
  • Manage and develop junior actuarial team members.
  • Act as a key contact for external auditors and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to wider actuarial and strategic projects.

Job description

This is a high-profile opportunity for an experienced reserving actuary to take ownership of the reserving function across a diverse specialty portfolio. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders across underwriting, finance and executive leadership, providing insight that directly influences business decisions and portfolio strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the quarterly reserving process across multiple Lloyd's and London Market classes.
  • Review reserve analyses, recommend appropriate booking levels and present results to senior management.
  • Own reserving governance, documentation and validation processes.
  • Provide reserving insights to underwriting teams, identifying trends, emerging risks and areas of opportunity.

About You
  • FIA qualified (or equivalent).

  • Strong understanding of regulatory and financial reporting requirements.
