Job summary

The Emerald Group seeks a senior Reserving actuary to own reserving and capital processes across its three syndicates from London. You will lead quarterly reserve assessments, validate Solvency II provisions, and drive capital model risk parameterisation.

Collaboration with actuaries, underwriters and finance teams is essential to optimise portfolio risk in a dynamic Lloyd’s market. Applicants should have a technical degree, be a qualified actuary, and possess deep reserving experience in London

Qualifications

• University degree in a technical field (Science, Mathematics, Engineering).
• Qualified actuary.
• Reserving experience, preferably in the Lloyd’s or London Market.
• Data manipulation and technical modelling skills.
• Experience with UK and/or US GAAP reporting is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Conduct quarterly assessments of in-house actuarial reserve indications on an ultimate basis and an earned basis, ensuring results are clearly and appropriately presented throughout the business.
• Conduct quarterly assessments of the Solvency II Technical Provisions and ensure outputs are communicated effectively.
• Lead and coordinate the parameterisation and validation of Reserve Risk for the capital model.
• Collaborate with actuaries, underwriters, portfolio managers and finance teams to perform analyses and optimise portfolios of insurance risks.

• Conduct quarterly assessments of in-house actuarial reserve indications on both an ultimate basis and an earned basis, ensuring results are clearly and appropriately presented throughout the business.
• Conduct quarterly assessments of the Solvency II Technical Provisions and ensure outputs are communicated effectively.
• Lead and coordinate the parameterisation and validation of Reserve Risk for the capital model
• Collaborate effectively with both external and internal stakeholders – including actuaries, underwriters, portfolio managers and finance teams to perform analyses and optimise portfolios of insurance risks
• University degree within a technical field (i.e., Science, Mathematics, Engineering)
• Qualified actuary
• Reserving experience, preferably in the Lloyd’s or London Market
• Data manipulation and technical modelling skills
• Experience of UK and/or US GAAP reporting would be beneficial
