Job Opportunity: Research Software Engineer

This long-established and successful company is seeking a Research Software Engineer to join their innovative Innovation team. This team focuses on high-impact research and early-stage prototyping. Your role will involve developing experimental research projects into production-ready products.

The company provides integrated modelling software to clients worldwide, including start-ups and multinational corporations. They are financially stable and expanding into industries such as pharmaceuticals and banking. Their technical staff are highly qualified, many holding PhDs, providing opportunities to work alongside experts and develop your skills further.

Requirements:

1. Proven experience translating prototype scientific code into performant, production-ready software.
2. Strong knowledge of at least one high-level scientific language (e.g., Python, Julia, R) and at least one compiled system language (e.g., C++, C#, Fortran).
3. PhD in a technical field such as Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science. A Master’s degree with relevant commercial experience may also be considered.
4. Legal right to work in the UK without restrictions.

Additional experience with digital twins, machine learning, reinforcement learning, or agentic systems in a scientific context is advantageous but not required.
