Simulation Software Engineer (C++ / Java)

Remote first / Inside IR35 / Rate negotiable / Start ASAP / potential for multiple extensions

SR2 has partnered with a specialist consultancy on a significant programme of work involving modelling and simulations. We are seeking a skilled software engineer with proven experience in simulation software. Experience with HLA concepts such as FOMs, SOMs, object classes, interactions, and ownership management is desirable, along with hands-on experience using Pitch pRTI or similar RTI implementations.

Key Requirements:

• Proficiency in C++ or Java
• Experience designing and developing HLA federates (desirable)
• Familiarity with federation execution control and management
• Strong debugging skills in distributed simulation environments

What You’ll Do:

• Define and implement an HLA federation using Pitch pRTI and a custom FOM
• Build an interface between HLA messages and flatbuffers to enable federate visualization in the UI via Data Plane websocket
• Design and implement scenario management messages to support shared initial states and dynamic events across federates
