Job description

Working within the Clinical Audit & Research Unit, the Research Software Developer is responsible for developing full stack ASP.NET web applications to facilitate the collection, sharing, utilisation, and visualisation of clinical data critical to our research and clinical audit programmes. This role ultimately aims to contribute to improvements in patient care.

The Research Software Developer will collaborate with the Clinical Data Scientist, Clinical Research Manager, and other stakeholders to design new systems. They will undertake development and testing to deliver these systems and provide day-to-day support for the department's bespoke systems. The role requires applying specialist knowledge across various development tools and technologies, supported by theoretical knowledge or practical experience.

1. Lead the development of full stack ASP.NET applications according to specifications.
2. Conduct thorough testing of applications before deployment to ensure they meet requirements, are fit for purpose, and prevent duplication of work.
3. Assist in designing and scoping new applications by providing technical expertise, and identify opportunities to improve existing applications or processes through technology.
4. Provide ongoing technical support for web applications within the Clinical Audit & Research Unit, including monitoring performance, troubleshooting, and problem-solving to maintain service delivery.
5. Plan and implement changes to applications to minimize service disruptions.
6. Offer technical assistance to end users as needed.
