Job Summary:

We seek a creative, self-motivated Research Scientist to develop mathematical models for mechanical systems dynamics. The role involves deriving models of complex mechanical systems, working constructively within a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with engineering and business teams, and presenting findings internally and externally.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Model complex mechanical systems dynamics.
  2. Review and report on industry modelling approaches.
  3. Collaborate with experimentalists to validate models and match them to data.
  4. Engage with the SLB technical community.
  5. Develop innovative solutions and communicate them effectively.
  6. Publish scientific papers, write patents, and attend conferences.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • PhD in Applied Mathematics or related field, preferably with Mechanical Engineering knowledge.
  • Core subjects: Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Numerical Methods, Mechanics, Vibrations, System Modelling, Control Systems.
  • Computational skills: MATLAB, Simulink, ANSYS, SolidWorks, Abaqus, ADAMS (optional); programming in Python, C++, or MATLAB.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially in deriving models and quantifying uncertainties.
  • Relevant publications are desirable.
