Job summary

Pertemps is recruiting a Research & Reporting Officer to support a public sector review of environmental reporting processes in Wales. The role is hybrid, 37 hours per week, temporary assignment until January 2027, with start ASAP.

You will conduct detailed research, review existing reporting models, gather evidence from colleagues and stakeholders, and develop findings and recommendations to streamline and improve current practices.

Research & Reporting Officer

Location: Wales, hybrid working

Pay Rate: £17.54 per hour

Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Assignment length: Temporary assignment until January 2027

Are you an experienced researcher with strong analytical, reporting and communication skills?

We're recruiting for a Research & Reporting Officer to support an important review of environmental reporting processes within a public sector organisation.

You'll play an important role in understanding how environmental reporting is currently carried out, reviewing existing reporting models and identifying opportunities to improve and streamline processes across the wider environmental reporting team.

The role would suit someone with a strong research background who is confident analysing information, communicating with stakeholders and working independently to investigate processes and develop clear findings and recommendations.

What you'll be doing
  • Conducting detailed research into current environmental reporting processes and approaches
  • Reviewing existing reporting models and assessing how effective they are
  • Gathering information, evidence and insight from colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation
  • Identifying opportunities to improve, simplify and streamline existing reporting processes
  • Analysing research findings and identifying key themes, issues and areas for improvement
  • Supporting the development of recommendations for future environmental reporting approaches
  • Working closely with members of the wider environmental reporting team
  • Organising and attending meetings, workshops and stakeholder discussions
  • Making accurate and detailed meeting minutes, recording key discussions, decisions and actions
  • Maintaining clear and organised research, project and reporting documentation
  • Producing written summaries, reports and findings to support the wider review
  • Managing your own workload and progressing research independently
What we're looking for
  • Previous experience in a research, reporting, analytical, policy, project support or similar role
  • A strong research background with excellent information gathering and investigative skills
  • Experience reviewing processes, reporting models or existing ways of working
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess information and identify meaningful findings
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Confidence working independently and managing your own workload
  • Experience attending meetings and producing accurate and comprehensive meeting minutes
  • The ability to build effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • An interest in environmental reporting, sustainability, conservation or wider environmental issues would be advantageous
It would be great if you have experience in
