Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research associate to work in the group of Dr Gregory Perry for up to 3 years at the University of Southampton, a leading UK research university known for excellence in chemistry and equipped with world-class facilities.
Applicants should hold or be close to completing a PhD in synthetic chemistry or possess equivalent qualifications and experience. Expertise in organic synthesis is required, with experience in handling sensitive organometallics advantageous. Skills in catalysis, photo-, electro-, or mechanochemical synthesis, and mechanistic studies are beneficial. The candidate should demonstrate a strong work ethic and enthusiasm for the project, and will participate in laboratory management.
The project focuses on expanding work on Dual-Function Reagents (see Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2023, 62, e202218371). The successful candidate will join a creative team dedicated to designing new reagents and methods in organic synthesis, gaining expertise in organometallic chemistry and isotope labelling. Opportunities to explore catalysis, photo-, electro-, and mechanochemistry are available. The candidate will present research at national and international conferences and may assist in research group management. Teaching opportunities at the University are optional.
*Candidates working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD are encouraged to apply. The title of Research Fellow will be awarded upon PhD completion; prior to that, the position will be titled Senior Research Assistant.
