Job summary

Birmingham City University is seeking a Research Fellow to join the Knowledge to Care research group at City South Campus. The role suits a postdoctoral researcher eager to expand a career in health research, with emphasis on implementation science or knowledge mobilisation and mixed methods.

This is a fixed-term contract for 30 months. You will execute delegated tasks, work within a multidisciplinary team, and contribute to rapid reviews, data collection, and analysis to evaluate a care bundle

Role Summary

Birmingham City University is a large and diverse institution in the heart of the city. We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow to join our Knowledge to Care research group. The role will suit a post doctoral researcher looking to expand their career in health research. The role would be of particular interest to anyone interested in implementation or improvement science or knowledge mobilisation who has experience of mixed methods or qualitative research approaches.

This is a fixed term contract for 30 months.

You will be responsible for ensuring the timely execution of delegated research tasks according to the research protocol. You will work within, and with the support of a multidisciplinary, multi-organisation team and be involved with rapid reviews, working with healthcare practitioners, women and families to further develop a care bundle and implementation strategies. Once implemented, you will be involved in collecting and analysing data to evaluate the care bundle in practice.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

• Co-ordinate some elements of the study
• Contribute to application for research ethics approval
• Support the recruitment of participants
• Carry out fieldwork including qualitative interviews, focus groups and observations of practice
• Conduct data analysis
• Keep robust research records and store data in accordance with law and policy
• Produce high quality journal papers

Essential Requirements

• Post doctoral researcher with some health research experience
• Strong communication skills and have the ability to work within a team consisting of divers professional groups and disciplines
• An interest in implementation science and a willingness to develop relevant knowledge and skills
• Strong qualitative research knowledge skills
• Experience of or is willing to lean realist and mixed methods approaches
• Ability to write and publish quality research journal articles
• Good presentation skills
• An understanding of patient and public involvement and engagement
