Job summary

The University of Liverpool is seeking a Research Contracts Officer to join its Research Contracts Team. You will manage a substantial portfolio of research-related agreements, negotiating, drafting and reviewing contracts with funders, collaborators and commercial partners.

The role requires strong contract law knowledge, excellent judgement and stakeholder management across a broad set of university committees.

The University of Liverpool is seeking to recruit a Research Contracts Officer to join its Research Contracts Team.

The University is a member of the prestigious Russell Group of research-intensive universities. Supporting stakeholders to achieve their research objectives whilst managing legal and commercial risk is a key aspect of the role. In addition to a strong understanding of contract law and legal issues facing a university, the position requires excellent judgement and stakeholder management skills.

You will be joining an established and supportive team. You will take responsibility for managing a substantial and varied portfolio of research-related agreements, including negotiating, drafting and reviewing contracts with research funders, collaborators and commercial partners, as well as contributing your expertise to a variety of University committees.

As part of a highly regarded team that carries out a business-critical role for the University, you will ensure contracts are negotiated and concluded efficiently, enabling research activity to progress whilst protecting the University's interests. You should possess a sound understanding of contract law, experience of successfully negotiating complex agreements and an appreciation of the legal and regulatory issues affecting the higher education sector.

You will be articulate, commercially aware and able to build effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. You will demonstrate excellent analytical skills, sound judgement and exceptional attention to detail.
