Job summary

Imperial College London seeks a researcher to develop biobased solvent extraction systems for recovering biological products. You will design, synthesize and test novel solvents, supervise small teams and contribute to publications and grant proposals.

The role involves collaboration with EU project PROPEL, working within the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London (South Kensington Campus). The post is available immediately for up to 24 months.

Qualifications

• A first degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related discipline.
• A PhD (or equivalent) in sustainable solvents or bioprocessing or closely related field.

Responsibilities

• Design, synthesize and test novel solvents to enhance recovery of fermentation products via solvent extraction.
• Conduct experimental design and data analysis; supervise small multi-disciplinary teams as needed.
• Publish results in refereed journals and prepare proposals to attract external research funding.
