Job summary

A growing biotech startup in Stevenage is seeking a Research Associate III in Chemistry to support drug development efforts. Qualifications

Role Summary

The Scientist will support the drug development team, leveraging technical expertise in analytical chemistry to support the discovery and characterisation of novel drug candidates and their clinical formulations.

The Impact you will have at Metsera

Under the guidance of the Research Director, the applicant's main roles will include:

  • Executing and optimising assays to characterise Metsera's peptides and peptide formulations
  • Developing novel assays to address future bioanalysis needs
  • Developing quality control testing and characterisation assays
  • With short notice, working with the Discovery and CMC Teams to address their immediate peptide characterisation needs
  • Maintaining accurate written and computer-based records for all experiments and studies
  • Analysing large datasets and generating research reports

From time to time, other duties may include

  • Undertaking any necessary training and/or development
  • Carrying out such other duties as necessary to assist in the smooth and efficient operation of the laboratory and facilities, including cleaning and maintenance

What you bring to Metsera

  • MSc degree +2 years or PhD degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related Life Sciences, or have equivalent academic and/or industrial experience
  • Wet lab experience in a molecular biology lab (industry or academia) with peptide or protein research background
  • Experience with executing and developing analytical methods and assays to characterise peptides or proteins
  • Experience with biological molecule characterisation techniques, e.g. LC (RP/SEC-HPLC), DLS / SLS
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced laboratory environment
  • Able to work methodically whilst delivering results to a high standard
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Have a co-operative, flexible attitude towards work
  • Able to self-prioritise and mange own work with minimal supervision
  • Disciplined and considerate of confidentiality and security at all times

Preferred:

  • Experience with LCMS advantageous
  • Experience working in a biotech start-up advantageous
