Job summary

The University of Sheffield's SITraN invites applications for a Research Associate in extracellular vesicles research. You will design and execute experiments on human biofluids and cellular models, analyze proteins, miRNAs and lipids as biomarkers, and contribute to manuscript preparation and seminars.

You will work under Professors Pamela Shaw and Heather Mortiboys, with a strong emphasis on independent and team-based research, training junior colleagues and liaising with industrial partners.

Qualifications

• A PhD (or close to completion) in molecular or cellular biology, or neuroscience (or equivalent experience).
• Experience of genetic, molecular and cellular laboratory work.
• Experience of working with human ECVs in the context of neuroscience.
• Experience of in vitro mammalian cell-based assays.
• Experience of collection, storage and processing of human biofluid samples.
• IT skills including statistical programs and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Design, set up and run experiments related to the project under PI guidance.
• Demonstrate competence in molecular/cellular biology techniques and data analysis.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare reports for conferences and industry partners.
• Prepare papers for journals and present findings at meetings.
• Supervise graduate students and technicians as required.
• Plan experiments up to three months ahead and coordinate with team partners.
