Job summary

The Open University is seeking a Research Associate for the BELONG project, based on campus in Milton Keynes with remote/hybrid options and regular travel to Cardiff. The role runs for 7 months across two phases, focusing on participatory workshops with underrepresented communities and co-design of AI enhancements for the nQuire platform.

Ideal candidates hold a PhD in related fields, have experience in community-engaged research, and can travel between Milton Keynes and Cardiff.

Qualifications

PhD in Community Eng. or related field.
Experience designing participatory and community-engaged research with co-design/participatory methods.
Experience working with underrepresented communities and barriers to access.
Strong qualitative research skills: interviews, transcription, coding, thematic analysis.
Excellent communication and facilitation to create inclusive spaces.
Ability to travel between Milton Keynes and Cardiff regularly, including occasional overnight stays.
Proficiency with digital tools for data collection and collaboration.

Responsibilities

Facilitate participatory workshops with groups at two sites.
Coordinate data collection across Phases 1 and 2 (surveys, interviews, field notes).
Support Phase 2 co-design workshops testing AI enhancements to nQuire.
Document community-specified requirements for platform roadmap.
Conduct qualitative analysis and contribute to cross-national summaries and reports.
Travel between Milton Keynes and Cardiff to deliver sessions; manage logistics.
