Job summary

University of Nottingham invites applications for a part-time Research Assistant to support ageing well research within the NIHR ARC EM. The role involves planning and conducting mixed-methods studies and preparing work for publication.

Qualifications

Applications are invited for an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant to join our National Institute of Health and Care Research Applied Research Collaboration East Midlands team (NIHR ARC EM). The purpose of this role will be to develop and undertake research relating to ageing well, including falls prevention, in the Building Resilience in Later Life theme. The role holder will be expected to plan and conduct work using qualitative and quantitative methodologies and will be responsible for writing up their work for publication. Candidates with experience working with primary care data and using implementation science frameworks are particularly welcome.

The role holder will join an established team, led by Professor Elizabeth Orton, whose main areas of research interest include applied health research on healthy ageing in the areas of prevention, rehabilitation and long-term care (see previous research here). Research will focus on the adaptation, implementation and scale of effective innovations, building research capacity in the health and care sector and collaboration with partners including other ARC themes in the East Midlands and nationally, other NIHR programmes, Health Innovation Networks, Integrated Care Boards, Local Authorities and health and care providers.

This part-time (18 hours) position is offered as a fixed-term contract to 30 September 2029. This role is available from the 1 October 2026.
