About The Role

We are looking for a Research Assistant to support a British Council/STDF-funded project titled “Climate Resilient Energy Efficient Low-income Housing in Egypt (CRLiH)”. The project explores climate change impacts on thermal comfort, energy performance, and wellbeing in low-income housing in Egypt, using mixed methods including surveys, environmental monitoring, and thermal modelling.

You will analyze data, develop retrofit models with tools like IES VE or EnergyPlus, and contribute to research dissemination through publications and presentations. There is also an opportunity for part-funded PhD studies, subject to approval.

About You

You should have a postgraduate degree (MSc or PhD) in Architecture, Construction, Environmental Sciences, or a related field, with expertise in building physics, thermal modelling, and environmental monitoring. Experience with simulation tools and data analysis is essential, along with excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Essential Criteria

  • MSc or PhD in relevant field
  • Knowledge of building physics and retrofit strategies
  • Experience with thermal modelling software (IES VE, EnergyPlus)
  • Proficiency in data analysis and academic writing
  • Field experience with environmental data loggers and post-occupancy evaluations
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively internationally
