Salary: Research Assistant: £32,546 to £34,132 per annum (pro rata)

Research Associate: £35,116 per annum (pro rata)

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a sport and exercise psychology research team on a 6-month funded project by North Futures Hub (EPSRC). The project aims to:

  • Assess mental health support training for junior athlete coaches, including current provision and barriers.
  • Evaluate digital tools used by coaches for athlete support.

The project uses a mixed methods approach, including questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. The successful candidate will lead daily project activities, including data collection, ethical approvals, data analysis, and dissemination.

This is a fixed-term, 6-month position, 60%FTE, with flexible working days.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage daily project operations under guidance.
  • Enhance methodological aspects of the project.
  • Design questionnaires and lead data collection and analysis.
  • Conduct semi-structured interviews and manage PPI activities.
  • Prepare ethics protocols and contribute to dissemination and funding proposals.
  • Lead research publication and presentation efforts.
  • Support supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Teamwork and rapid skill acquisition.
  • Subject knowledge in research area.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Research experience, including ethical approvals and data analysis with SPSS.

Desirable

  • Experience with coaches, youth sport, or mental health in sport psychology.
  • Mixed-methods research experience and literature knowledge.

  • Willingness to travel locally within North East.

Qualifications
