Research Assistant (AI-Powered Software Engineering & Data Science)

Join to apply for the Research Assistant (AI-Powered Software Engineering & Data Science) role at University of Reading.

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Reading is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant to join the EU-funded project AI4SOFTENG. The project aims to exploit advanced AI-powered software development support to deliver high-quality, reliable, and fast-to-market software and AI systems that are socially responsible, scalable, sustainable, and compliant with ethical and regulatory standards. This is a fixed-term position for 36 months.

Responsibilities and Requirements

• Hold an undergraduate or master’s degree in Computer Science or an Engineering discipline with computing content, demonstrating AI-Software Engineering and Data Modelling experience, or have equivalent work experience.
• Possess programming skills in languages such as C++, C#, Java, Python, or R, supported by a strong software engineering background.
• Have knowledge of AI & Data Science techniques, especially involving the design and implementation of Machine Learning and Data Mining algorithms, and Security-by-Design.
• Have Data Engineering and Visualisation skills, particularly in Layered Dashboard Design.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
