Repairs Surveyor
Location: Croydon
Rate: £350 per day Umbrella
Contract: Until end of September (extension approval being sought)
Start Date: ASAP
Working Pattern: Hybrid - 4 days on site, 1 day working from home
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Repairs Surveyor to join a busy property services team in Croydon. This is an excellent opportunity for a surveyor with strong experience in responsive repairs, damp and mould investigations, and housing maintenance to support the delivery of high-quality repair services across residential properties.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out responsive and proactive inspections relating to damp, mould, condensation, disrepair and general housing repairs.
- Diagnose building defects and identify root causes using moisture meters, humidity monitoring equipment and building fabric assessments.
- Produce detailed inspection reports with photographs, recommendations and remedial actions.
- Raise works orders and specify repairs in line with relevant policies and Awaab's Law requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and day-to-day oversight to Repairs Inspectors.
- Review inspection findings, repair specifications and works orders raised by inspectors.
- Undertake post-inspections and quality assurance checks on completed repairs.
- Liaise closely with internal teams, contractors and residents to ensure effective service delivery.
- Keep residents informed throughout the repairs process and clearly explain findings and next steps.
- Prioritise high-risk cases and elevate safeguarding or vulnerability concerns where appropriate.
About You
- At least 3 years' experience within social housing repairs, building surveying or property maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of building pathology, damp and mould diagnosis, ventilation systems and responsive repairs.
- Experience specifying repairs, raising works orders and using the M3NHF Schedule of Rates.
- Experience providing technical support, guidance or oversight to inspection teams.
- Excellent report-writing and communication skills.
- Knowledge of NEC systems would be advantageous but is not essential as training can be provided.
- A building surveying or property maintenance qualification, or be working towards one.
- A full clean driving licence and the ability to travel across the borough.
