Job description

Permanent, Full Time (40 hours per week)

Based at Railway House with onsite working

Looking for a fresh challenge and to find that spring in your step at an award-winning employer? At Gloucester City Homes (GCH), we’re an ambitious, dynamic housing association with strong community roots. We’re focused on building homes and communities where people can thrive and delivering valued services to our customers.

We’re now seeking a Repairs Supervisor – someone to oversee and optimise a team of Repairs Engineers and ensure they deliver repairs to GCH properties in line with our Customer Commitment and performance, quality, and safety standards. You’ll work in partnership with other supervisors to carry out property inspections, manage the scheduling diary, own complex repair cases, and diagnose complex repairs and hazards, making recommendations for required works, ensuring all GCH properties are safe, warm, and decent.

You’ll be accountable for Health & Safety for all works undertaken, ensuring that they operate safely and in accordance with all policies and procedures. You will hold regular toolbox talks with engineers and partner with other supervisors to deliver service improvements and share best practices.

The Repairs Supervisor will also carry out 1:1s, van and material audits with the repairs engineers and provide the support required to ensure engineers realise their potential in line with company policies.

We’d like you to…

  • Hold an NVQ Level 2 in a relevant trade (i.e., Plumbing, Electrical Installation, etc.).
  • Hold a Management/Supervisory qualification or equivalent.
  • Have proven experience within the repairs/property maintenance sector, with good all-round knowledge of maintenance/construction.
  • Have experience of leading, managing, motivating, and developing small teams of repairs engineers within a similar environment.
  • Have experience of dealing with performance and productivity of teams and individuals, delivering successful outcomes for the business and customers.
  • Have practical knowledge of repairs and repairs diagnostics.
  • Have experience of delivering excellent customer service, identifying and solving problems.
  • Have good knowledge of workplace safety.
  • Have a good level of IT literacy and numeracy, including knowledge of operating mobile devices (phones, tablets, and PDAs).
  • Be able to organise workloads and make effective use of time and resources.
  • Have working knowledge of the social housing sector, the HHSRS System, and property risks.

Closing Date: Monday 12th of May

GCH reserves the right to bring the closing date forward should enough quality applications be received prior to the current closing date.

GCH is committed to equal opportunities. We actively encourage applications from all sections of our community, particularly those with lived experience of our work.

We celebrate the diverse nature of our customers and colleagues, striving to develop diverse teams where everyone can be their authentic self through an inclusive, family-friendly, flexible, and fun culture. Our values of pride, quality, integrity, and innovation are at the heart of what we do. So, if this sounds like you, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
