You will provide support to the Housing Repairs & Maintenance Co-Ordinator on the implementation of the Council's housing repair and maintenance strategy. You will assist in the effective delivery of the repair service to tenants and owners through various contractors, including the in-house maintenance provider. The main duties of the post include:

  1. Responsibility for diagnosis of maintenance issues and instruction of repairs in line with the policy;
  2. Co-ordinate, complete and return void properties within target timescales;
  3. Post inspect repairs with a focus on quality and customer satisfaction;
  4. Contribute to both the performance monitoring and service development processes to ensure the delivery of a high quality, customer focused repair and maintenance service.

It is essential you have experience of working within a housing repairs and maintenance environment, delivering a responsive repairs service, and dealing with the public in the field and in an interview situation. You must have an understanding of landlord repair and maintenance responsibilities and a knowledge of standards of workmanship for all trades involved in the repairs process including various Health & Safety regulations that relate to the construction industry. You must have effective IT skills, written and verbal communication skills; the ability to work on your own initiative as part of a busy team; demonstrate motivation and enthusiasm; organise your own workload and be able to work under pressure to ensure tight deadlines are met. You must also be able to attend meetings out with normal office hours when required.

It is essential you are a City and Guilds time served tradesperson, alternatively, have an HNC/HND in a relevant building or construction discipline, or have a relevant SVQ Level 3.

A full driving license is also essential.

Knowledge of local authority working conditions/practices and experience of working in a social housing environment is desirable.
