Repair Technician Volunteer
Basis: One Saturday per month, 9am-1pm, at our Repair Cafe in The Hub.
Reporting to: Events Coordinator
Location: Based in our Hub, situated in The Glades, Bromley
Responsible for: Providing repair services at our new repair cafe in The Hub.
About the role
The Hub from Greener and Cleaner is seeking handy volunteers to act as Repair Technicians at our new drop-in repair café. We are especially interested in individuals with skills in:
What will you be doing?
We’ve created a supportive, judgement-free, and engaging environment where visitors can learn about climate change and sustainable practices. Your role is key to helping reduce waste by repairing items brought to the cafe or, if repair isn't possible, suggesting alternative sustainable solutions or organizations.
Who are we looking for?
Someone handy who enjoys problem-solving and repairing items, preferably with knowledge in:
Experience with repair tools is required. Comfort working in a customer-facing role within a diverse community is essential. Being a team player is important, as we rely on volunteers supporting each other. If you have PAT testing training, that's an advantage but not necessary; training can be provided. Providing your own relevant tools is helpful but not essential. Applicants must be over 18.
What difference will you make?
You will be part of our pilot project, which aims to be a blueprint for similar initiatives across the UK, promoting sustainable practices and waste reduction. Your role will help empower visitors to repair items themselves, fostering confidence and environmental responsibility.
