Job description

Repair Technician Cambridge, 5 days on site Salary: up to £35k

Are you a hands-on repair technician who takes pride in sending equipment back out working perfectly?

We're working with a global designer and manufacturer of communications equipment, used by emergency services, transport, utilities and other demanding sectors around the world. Their growth is continuing, and they're looking for a Repair Technician to join their Repairs team in Cambridge.

You'll be part of a structured, process-driven repair centre, diagnosing customer-reported faults using test equipment, jigs and fixtures. You'll disassemble and reassemble products, replace standard components, carry out PCB-level soldering where needed, and verify every completed repair through structured test and validation. You'll also apply defined hardware modifications in line with work instructions, and support both internal and customer-driven modification programmes.

Accuracy matters as much as repair skill here. You'll record all work in the management system, look after spare parts stock in your area, and keep jobs moving to hit turnaround and service level targets. You'll have the support of your line manager and team, and you'll work with colleagues across the wider business. If you spot an issue or risk, you'll elevate it promptly.

What You'll Bring
  • Experience working in a repair or service environment, following defined procedures
  • Mechanical assembly and disassembly of products, plus PCB-level soldering
  • Confidence using standard test equipment and service tools
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow work instructions accurately
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Good interpersonal skills and familiarity with MS Office (Excel and Word)
  • Further education (e.g. GNVQ, BTEC or A Levels)
  • Eligibility for UK SC clearance. This is a requirement of the role.
Also Valued
  • Experience in an electronics manufacturing environment
  • BGA rework machine experience
  • IPC inspection certification
  • Awareness of Health & Safety processes
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as Dynamics AX/365

If you've got a repair or service background and want to work somewhere that values precision and quality, this role will suit you. It's a chance to build your career with a respected, innovative technology company.
