Job summary

Certain Advantage is seeking a Repair Bay Working Supervisor to lead a small, skilled team in the Cheshire area. This site-based role involves supervising night-time operations and ensuring high quality repairs for HGVs and trailers.

You will diagnose faults, oversee routine maintenance, and ensure safety and compliance. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent is desirable, with a current HGV licence being advantageous.

Qualifications

• HGV technician role with focus on repair and maintenance.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills required.
• Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.
• Knowledge of HGV systems including hydraulics, brakes and suspension.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance, inspections and repairs on HGVs and trailers.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
• Perform safety checks in line with company and legal requirements.
• Utilise diagnostic equipment to identify faults and implement fixes.

The Role

This role is for a Repair Bay Working Supervisor—someone ambitious and ready to make an impact. You’ll be results-oriented and driven to succeed. You’ll be working in a small, experienced, and collaborative team, and be responsible for:

• Routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on HGVs and trailers.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
• Safety checks in line with company and legal requirements.
• Use diagnostic equipment to identify faults and apply effective solutions.

The Individual

We’re looking for people who can show:

• HGV Technician / Mechanic (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent is desirable).
• Commercial vehicle repair & maintenance.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of HGV systems, including hydraulics, brakes and suspension.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems and able to interpret wiring diagrams.
• A current HGV Licence (Class 1 or 2) is desirable but not essential.
