Job summary

Housing Plus Group is seeking an Accountant – Rents & Service Charges to join a high‑profile finance function. The role focuses on accurate, compliant rent and service charge management, delivering insights, and leading a small team.

You will support the Finance Manager – Rents & Service Charges, drive data quality, and influence cost allocation and process improvements across the group.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a recognised accounting qualification (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) or 3+ years in a senior finance role.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in rent and service charge setting.
• Knowledge of relevant landlord/tenant legislation and service charge rules is desirable.
• Experience designing/implementing strong financial controls and processes.
• Ability to work with IT teams to automate financial workflows and improve data quality.
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills across teams.

Responsibilities

• Deliver end-to-end rent and service charge cycle: budgeting, setting, billing, reconciliation and year-end statements.
• Support rent setting processes in line with Rent Standard and legislation.
• Ensure rents/service charges are compliant with statutory requirements.
• Collaborate with Finance, ICT and operations to maintain rent/service charge data accuracy.
• Support rent letter distributions and service charge estimates/year-end certificates.
• Assist internal/external audits with timely evidence and responses.
• Communicate clearly with residents and stakeholders about service charges.
