Job summary

JLB Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Rental Workshop Engineer to service, maintain and repair forklift trucks to manufacturer standards. You will conduct planned PMs, diagnose faults, and complete inspections.

The role requires accurate reporting, safe workshop practices, and contributing to fleet refurbishment. Essential candidates will have strong mechanical, electrical and hydraulic knowledge, excellent diagnostics, and good communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance on forklift trucks.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
  • Strip down, repair and repaint forklift trucks where required.
  • Complete pre-delivery inspections and off-hire inspections.
  • Accurately complete service reports, inspection documents and timesheets.
  • Identify and communicate chargeable repairs to maximise revenue opportunities.
  • Ensure all work complies with health and safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment.
  • Ensure repairs are completed to high standards within timescales.
  • Assist with preparation and refurbishment of rental fleet equipment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop.

Job description

Overview

Job Summary: Reporting to the Rental Team Leader, the Rental Workshop Engineer is responsible for the servicing, maintenance, repair and preparation of forklift trucks to ensure they operate safely, reliably and to the required company and manufacturer standards.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PM) on forklift trucks.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
  • Strip down, repair and repaint forklift trucks where required.
  • Complete pre-delivery inspections (PDI) and off-hire inspections.
  • Accurately complete service reports, inspection documents and timesheets.
  • Identify and communicate all chargeable repairs to the Rental Administration team to maximise revenue opportunities.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company health and safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment.
  • Ensure repairs are completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
  • Assist with the preparation and refurbishment of rental fleet equipment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop.

  • Desirable
    • Experience working on forklift trucks, plant equipment, HGVs or automotive vehicles.
    • Experience carrying out LOLER inspections (desirable).
    • Relevant mechanical or electrical engineering qualification.
