Job summary

Chime Housing in Watford seeks an Income Officer on a 12-month fixed-term contract to manage rent arrears and sustain tenancies. You will handle debt recovery, work with customers to resolve arrears, and collaborate with housing teams to reduce debt and support vulnerable tenants.

Strong experience in debt management, court procedures, and excellent communication are essential, with a focus on independent and collaborative teamwork.

Qualifications

• Proven debt management experience in housing or social services.
• Experience presenting in court and understanding legal processes for rent arrears.
• Excellent customer service and negotiation skills.
• Strong organisation and time management abilities.
• Ability to use MS Office and housing systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage rent arrears and tenancy-related debts in line with policy and procedures.
• Reduce debt through early intervention and effective case management.
• Work closely with Lettings to prevent arrears for new tenants.
• Support tenancy sustainment by identifying vulnerabilities and referring to safeguarding or social services.
• Take action to prevent arrears escalation, including notices and court paperwork.
