Job summary

ARM is seeking a Technical Survey Engineer to support domestic renewable heating projects. You will conduct customer site visits, assess properties for heat pump installations, perform heat loss calculations, and produce system designs.

You’ll also provide technical support to installation teams and assist with servicing and fault finding. The role suits an experienced heating or plumbing engineer moving into a more technical survey and design-focused position, with travel to customer properties

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer properties.

Responsibilities

Technical Survey Engineer - Renewables

We are currenlty supporting one of the UK's leading Heat Pump installers who are seeking a Technical Survey Engineer to support the assessment, design and delivery of domestic renewable heating and energy systems.

The role will involve carrying out customer site visits, assessing properties for heat pump installations, completing heat loss calculations and producing appropriate system designs. You'll also provide technical support to installation teams and assist with servicing and fault finding when required.

This would suit an experienced heating or plumbing engineer who has practical experience with heat pumps and is looking to move into a more technical, survey and design-focused position.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out domestic site surveys to assess the suitability of properties for heat pump installations
• Complete heat loss calculations and system sizing
• Develop technically appropriate heating system designs
• Provide technical advice and support to installation teams and project managers
• Carry out heat pump servicing and reactive fault finding where required
• Review completed installations and use feedback to improve survey and design processesHelp develop internal technical procedures, tools and documentation
• Keep up to date with relevant industry standards, regulations, products and installation practices
• Maintain a high standard of customer service during site visits

About You

You'll have practical experience within the heating industry, together with a good understanding of heating system design and fault finding.

You'll ideally have:

• Experience working with heat pump systems
• Good knowledge of heat loss, building fabric and hydronic heating systems
• Experience designing or assessing domestic heating systems
• Strong communication and customer-facing skills
• An understanding of MCS requirements and relevant industry standards
• Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to technical work
• The ability to work independently and manage multiple site visits
• A willingness to travel to customer properties, typically completing up to two surveys per day
• A full UK driving licence
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in plumbing, heating or a related discipline

Desirable Experience

• BPEC or equivalent heat pump design qualification
• Experience with domestic renewable energy systems such as solar PV
• Previous experience supervising engineers or coordinating technical work
• Experience working with technical surveying, design or installation processes
