Job description

Renewable Energy Claims Specialist

To support and handle complex renewable energy claims arising through the London Market and internationally. Work both externally and internally assessing major claims and adjusting where appropriate. Calculate and agree settlement of claims and prepare reports. Assist in developing reports (claims and risk engineering) and support overseas colleagues in handling and reporting renewable energy claims.

Willingness and commitment to attain CILA and other accredited insurance industry qualifications. Promote and support a culture of high-level technical expertise and standards within the insurance renewable energy environment (internally and externally). Maintain, develop, and apply personal knowledge and technical expertise to enhance credibility and uphold a market-leading reputation for technical excellence.

Willingness to present and share knowledge with the wider insurance market through conferences, lunch and learn sessions, and other presentations. Assist in developing and delivering white papers for the market, and review new and emerging technologies related to energy claims and risk management.

Utilize technical expertise in renewable energy systems to develop solutions to client and market challenges in both claims and risk management. Have experience with renewable energy sector technologies, both existing and emerging markets.

Responsibilities
  • Support the global renewable energy initiatives and objectives.
  • Prepare detailed reports on all aspects of claims, including technical details, policy analysis, liability, quantum, and future actions.
  • Communicate regularly with all interested parties, calculate and approve interim payments, prepare interim reports, and other communications.
  • Maintain and develop strong, sustainable relationships with existing and new clients, based on technical excellence and understanding client needs.
  • Visit sites for claims and risk engineering assessments.
  • Instruct and coordinate experts internally and externally, such as engineers, risk consultants, forensic scientists, and lawyers.
  • Demonstrate knowledge or awareness of FCA procedures and the TCF initiative.
  • Identify and develop business opportunities for oneself and the team.
  • Actively pursue personal development and training.
  • Possess an engineering qualification (Degree/HND or equivalent) and demonstrable experience.
  • Have industry experience with direct exposure to renewable energy technology.
  • Exhibit excellent communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills.
  • Reputation for technical excellence within the renewable energy sector.
  • Hold relevant industry qualifications.
  • Possess a good understanding of energy markets.
  • Experience in delivering renewable energy engineering and consulting services, especially related to hydrogen and BESS.
  • Strong team collaboration skills.
