Job description

PLEASE REFER TO THE ATTACHED JOB DESCRIPTION FOR FULL DUTIES OF THE ROLE. The CHoICE Clinical Engineering Department manages a wide range of medical equipment and related services across the CHS portfolio, supporting diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of patients. Service areas include:

  1. Clinical Engineering
  2. Renal Dialysis
  3. Paging System
  4. Mobile Radio System

A team of specialist technicians provides support for equipment management, safety testing, fault diagnosis, repair, and maintenance within clinical areas and patient homes. Equipment includes:

  • Renal Dialysis systems
  • Vital signs monitoring
  • Ventilators (adult and neonatal)
  • Cardiology devices
  • Patient data storage/retrieval and networking systems
  • Neonatal support systems

Technicians evaluate new equipment proposals, commission new devices, and manage disposal of end-of-life equipment following WEEE regulations. The department also maintains hospital paging and radio communication systems, ensuring continuous operation.

Training is provided for clinical staff on safe device use, with competency-based training for specialists and supervision of trainee technicians. The team collaborates with clinical and technical staff to deliver high-quality services and participates in an out-of-hours on-call rota 365 days a year.
