Job summary

University Hospitals Of Leicester NHS Trust is seeking a Renal Healthcare Assistant (Band 3) for the Peterborough dialysis unit. The role is full-time and permanent, with a salary of £25,760 to £27,476 per annum. The unit operates 07:00–23:00 on Mon, Wed and Fri and 07:00–19:00 on Tue, Thu and Sat.

Experience in renal/haemodialysis is desirable but not essential; full in-house training is provided. NVQ level 3 or equivalent and at least 12 months in care preferred.

Qualifications

• Essential requirements include previous Health Care Assistant / Clinical Aide role and ability to work as part of a team with initiative.
• Demonstrates ability to pass on knowledge to others and communicates effectively.
• Ability to set up dialysis machines and manage observations pre/post dialysis.
• Cannulation, Phlebotomy, ECG recording competencies and commitment to learning.

Responsibilities

• Work as an integral member of the ward/department team under supervision of a registered practitioner.
• Follow SOPs and guidelines; maintain privacy, dignity and confidentiality.
• Set up dialysis machines and connect/disconnect patients from dialysis.
• Perform observations before and after dialysis and care for patients during treatment.
• Manage stock and assist trained staff as required.
