Job summary

Lightfoot is seeking a Vehicle Systems Engineer to acquire, research, and reverse‑engineer EV and commercial vehicle data for its driver behaviour and efficiency platform. The role involves automating processes and building a robust vehicle integration pipeline, with occasional travel to suppliers and partners.

The candidate will work remotely with travel as required, and report to the Head of Embedded & Vehicle Systems. Strong Python/C++ skills and diagnostics knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in Python and C/C++ for vehicle data work.
• Experience with vehicle systems, diagnostics, and electrical architecture.
• Knowledge of diagnostic standards such as SAE J1939 and J1979.

Responsibilities

• Source and acquire target vehicles for integration based on roadmap.
• Access vehicle data via OBDII, connectors, sensors, and loom access.
• Decode signals to derive speed, battery state, torque, and fault codes.
• Document integrations for Field Installation Engineers and customers.
• Automate integration processes and improve tooling.
• Own and improve vehicle data simulators for testing.
• Drive vehicle integrations and contribute to roadmap.
• Maintain relationships with OEMs and fleet stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Embedded & Vehicle Systems team for firmware updates.
