Job summary

Lightfoot is seeking a Vehicle Systems Engineer to join its vehicle compatibility programme, decoding and integrating EV and commercial vehicle data to power in-cab driver behaviour tools. The role focuses on building and maintaining an integration pipeline, automating data capture, and collaborating with OEMs, builders, and fleet operators to expand platform coverage.

Qualifications

• Experience with vehicle data acquisition and integration.
• Ability to decode and map vehicle signals to parameters.
• Strong programming in Python and C/C++.
• Experience with diagnostic standards SAE J1939/J1979.

Responsibilities

• Source and acquire target vehicles for integration.
• Access vehicle data via OBDII, connectors, sensors, and loom access.
• Capture and log raw vehicle data in structured formats.
• Decode and map signals to speed, battery state, torque, and fault codes.
• Document integrations for field engineers and self-installers.
• Automate integration processes and tooling improvements.
• Own and improve vehicle data simulator(s) for testing.
• Drive high cadence of vehicle integrations to production.
• Maintain relationships with OEMs and builders.
• Coordinate field research and testing with engineers.
• Translate findings into firmware and app updates.
