Job summary

Austal is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join our Through Life Support team in the UK. This full-time role focuses on coordinating, developing and delivering electrical design activities for marine projects and Austal OEM electrical systems.

You will lead electrical upgrade packages, address obsolescence, support vessels, and ensure compliance with maritime standards while collaborating with clients and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in marine, offshore, defence, or heavy engineering environments.
• Experience with power generation and distribution systems.
• Experience preparing engineering documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of Austal electrical upgrade and modification packages and electrical system development.
• Development of Austal OEM electrical and power systems
• Management of electrical obsolescence issues
• Provide specialist electrical engineering support to projects
• Vessel control and automation systems
• Ongoing maintenance and upgrade support for in-service vessels
• Warranty-related investigations and rectifications
• Define scope, plan tasks, and manage the delivery of electrical design activities, including power distribution, control and communication systems
• Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to understand project requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
• Ensure all electrical designs comply with classification society rules, maritime regulations, and Austal’s quality and safety standards
• Contribute to and foster a culture of continuous learning and development.
