Job summary

ABB UK is seeking a Systems Development & Maintenance specialist to drive delivery of ABB’s Service portfolio, updating control system hardware/software and supporting customers across the UK. Role includes travel to customer sites, onshore and offshore, and training during induction in Aberdeen.

You will lead testing, integration, and support, collaborate with sales teams, advise on maintenance and cybersecurity, and help identify new service opportunities while maintaining safety and ABB

Qualifications

• Strong safety and integrity mindset.
• Solid background with PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, industrial networks, and cybersecurity.
• Willingness to learn, innovate, and work independently.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexible and willing to travel to customer sites.
• Offshore certification - desirable.
• Cybersecurity and functional safety awareness - desirable.

Responsibilities

• Update and maintain ABB control system hardware/software, including design specs, test procedures, and scopes of work.
• Lead assurance, integration, and testing of system modules, ensuring smooth delivery and performance.
• Deliver system updates and new products while collaborating with stakeholders; provide on-call support and site visits as needed.
• Bid & Proposal Support: Assist in quotation preparation and identify potential sales leads through customer interactions.
• Technical Advisory: Advise clients on maintenance, site planning, operational methods, control strategies, and cybersecurity.
• Lifecycle & Spare Parts Management: Oversee system modifications, spare parts planning, and ad-hoc work-scope coordination.
• Reporting & Communication: Compile site visit reports, ensure follow-up, and maintain effective communication with internal teams and clients.
