Job summary

JN Technical Ltd is seeking an experienced Connection Designer to join our remote engineering team, delivering safe and efficient structural steel connections across UK projects. You will interpret GA and fabrication drawings, provide calculations, and interface with engineers, detailers and fabrication teams to resolve technical queries.

Ideal candidates will have strong Eurocode 3 knowledge, familiarity with British Standards, and proficiency in IDEA StatiCa, Tekla Tedds or MasterSeries.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a structural steel connection designer within a UK fabrication or consultancy environment.
• Strong working knowledge of Eurocode 3 and British Standards.
• Proficiency with connection design software (e.g., IDEA StatiCa, Tekla Tedds, MasterSeries, or similar).
• Ability to interpret GA drawings, fabrication drawings, and 3D models.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills; remote collaboration.
• Degree or HNC/HND in Structural or Civil Engineering preferred, though strong experience valued.

Responsibilities

• Produce safe, efficient, and compliant structural steel connection designs to Eurocodes/BS standards.
• Prepare detailed calculations, sketches, and design reports for approval.
• Collaborate with structural engineers, detailers, and fabrication teams to resolve technical queries.
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, and 3D models to determine connection requirements.
• Provide technical input during tender, design, and construction phases.
• Ensure all designs meet safety, quality, and fabrication requirements.
• Support value engineering and buildability improvements.
• Work independently while maintaining clear communication with the wider project team.
