The postholder will work remotely from home with occasional travel to BASC head office. The position leads cross‑organisational collaboration, builds partnerships, and guides practical programmes that support woodland

Qualifications

• Experience and strong understanding of sustainable deer management and its relationship with woodland management.
• Experience with deer management policy, legislation and regulation.
• Experience in deer population management, habitat impacts, management planning and monitoring.
• Experience or transferrable skills in developing and implementing strategy.
• Experience translating strategic objectives into practical programmes with measurable outcomes.
• Experience of managing budgets, resources and competing priorities.
• Experience of leading or coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholder engagement.
• Experience of influencing policy, regulation or decision-making in a political environment.

Responsabilités

• Strategic leadership across BASC’s deer management strategy.
• Define and promote sustainable deer management through robust evidence, data and monitoring.
• Develop practical capability, codes of practice and best-practice approaches.
• Policy and advocacy work to influence government and regulators.
• Develop partnerships with land managers, government and NGOs.
• Engage members and communicate the value of deer management.
