Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, a major national logistics provider, is seeking a highly experienced and proactive Remote Senior Transport Compliance & Safety Manager . This is a fully remote position, allowing you to lead critical safety and compliance initiatives from your home office across South Africa . You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive transport safety programs and ensuring strict adherence to all relevant national and international regulations. This role requires a deep understanding of transport law, safety management systems, risk assessment, and driver training methodologies. The successful candidate will possess exceptional leadership qualities, a meticulous attention to detail, and a proven ability to foster a strong safety culture within a large fleet operation. You will be instrumental in safeguarding our operations, protecting our drivers, and maintaining our reputation for excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage a robust national transport safety and compliance strategy.
• Ensure full compliance with all South African road traffic regulations, industry standards, and relevant legislation.

Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in transport safety, compliance management, or a related field, with a significant focus on road transport.
• In-depth knowledge of South African transport laws, safety regulations (e.g., National Road Traffic Act), and international standards.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing successful safety management systems (e.g., ISO 39001).
• Demonstrated expertise in risk assessment, incident investigation, and root cause analysis.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to manage remotely.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in using safety management software and data analysis tools.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Safety Management, Logistics, Law, or a related discipline.
• Professional certification in safety management (e.g., SAMTRAC, NEBOSH) is highly desirable.
• Experience working in a remote leadership capacity is a strong advantage.
