Job summary

Chattermill Analytics Limited in the United Kingdom seeks a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to advance our CX intelligence platform. You will design, train, and deploy transformer-based models and agentic systems on customer feedback data, balancing bespoke fine-tuning with off-the-shelf LLMs.

You’ll own pipelines for extraction, retrieval, reranking, summarisation, and sentiment analysis, and help scale production across teams while mentoring peers and collaborating with Product and Commercial

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of transformer architectures.
• Strong PyTorch skills, including custom training loops and architecture tweaks.
• Experience with fine-tuning and parameter-efficient methods (LoRA).
• Extensive experience with large-scale, real-world text data (classification, extraction, embeddings, search).
• Experience with instruction fine-tuning and serving language models; familiarity with frameworks like vLLM, DeepSpeed.

Responsibilities

• Train, evaluate, and iterate on ML models and agentic systems for customer feedback.
• Build and maintain LLM-powered features: retrieval pipelines, reranking, insight agents.
• Design robust evaluation frameworks and metrics for non-deterministic systems.
• Improve semantic search and retrieval beyond embeddings; evolve to advanced methods.
• Collaborate with Engineering on productionisation, data pipelines, and monitoring.
• Translate business needs into practical ML solutions and support client evaluations.
• Mentor team members and bring advances from literature into the product.
