Qualifications

• Must have Associate or Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• CMS Long-Term Care Basic Training and passed SMQT.
• At least two years of recent surveyor experience in long-term care facilities.
• Current RN licensure.
• Ability to travel up to 75% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site surveys of Medicare-Medicaid certified facilities to determine compliance with Federal regulations.
• Perform off-site preparations, facility tour, care observation, record reviews, and staff/family interviews.
• Evaluate quality of care, residents’ rights, and physical plant aspects.
• Communicate non-compliance issues to site personnel and during exit conferences.
• Determine acceptable plans of correction and conduct follow-up visits to verify implementation.
• Assist with facility and bureau training and participate in work groups as needed.
