Job summary

Opus People Solutions is seeking an experienced Registered Building Inspector (Class 2A or Class 2A/2C) to join a Local Authority Building Control team on a rolling 3-month contract. The role is predominantly remote, with occasional office attendance and site visits as required.

You will assess plans, perform site inspections, and enforce Building Regulations while providing guidance to developers and contractors. A full UK driving licence and strong report-writing skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Registered Building Inspector (RBI) Class 2A or Class 2A/2C required.
• Experience in Building Control, preferably Local Authority.
• Strong knowledge of Building Regulations and related legislation.
• Experience undertaking site inspections and plan assessments.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with site inspections, plan vetting and supervision of building works.
• Deliver a high-quality Building Control service with technical excellence.
• Manage a varied caseload of Building Regulation applications.
• Ensure compliance with Building Regulation requirements on plan and site.
• Maintain detailed records and prepare reports on regulated works.
• Provide advice on Building Control legislation to stakeholders.
• Assist with dangerous structure and demolition control processes.
• Represent the Council in legal proceedings when required.
