Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Interim Head of Planning for Blaenau Gwent Council to lead the Local Development Plan and planning policy work on a 3-month contract. The postholder will manage a small team and ensure delivery in line with statutory requirements and the Council's Delivery Agreement.

You will provide expert planning policy advice, represent the Council at regional and national forums, and oversee evidence preparation for examinations and public inquiries.

Qualifications

• Degree in Town Planning or related discipline.
• Eligibility for full RTPI membership.
• Experience in development planning or planning policy within public sector.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation, delivery, and monitoring of Local Development Plan.
• Manage a small planning policy team and provide line management.
• Prepare SPG documents and planning briefs for key sites.
• Analyze population, housing, and land-use trends.
