Job summary

Matched Group is seeking a PHP Software Engineer for a 12-month FTC contract. The role is mostly remote in England with a Berkshire office on day one to collect equipment.

You will develop, maintain, and provide production support to existing SaaS systems, requiring PHP 8+ and Symfony experience, plus strong API, database, and cloud skills. The position involves working within an agile team and contributing to code quality through tests and reviews.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' commercial experience with PHP 8+ development.
• Symfony commercial experience.
• RESTful API development and integration.
• Strong HTML, CSS3, and JavaScript skills.
• Strong SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL or similar).
• Linux, Git, Docker.
• Automated unit and integration testing.
• AWS experience (or similar cloud package).
• Strong object‑oriented programming, SOLID principles, scalable code practices.
• Strong problem solver.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and maintain internal systems
• Deliver work through the full SDLC in an agile environment
• Investigate and resolve production defects and issues
• Maintain and modernise legacy applications
• Write automated unit and integration tests, participate in code reviews and quality assurance activities
