Job summary

Airalo is hiring a Backend Engineer to evolve our global PHP platform used by millions of travelers. You will work in a fully remote team across the UK and Spain, focusing on high-volume services with Laravel and Symfony, and applying SOLID design in a modular architecture.

We value expertise in PHP, Laravel or Symfony, OOP, SQL, and modern tooling like Docker and CI/CD. You’ll collaborate with senior engineers and product teams to ship robust, scalable features.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of backend development experience with PHP.
• Experience building apps in Laravel or strong Symfony background.
• Strong understanding of OOP, interfaces, and modular code.
• Solid knowledge of SQL, indexing, migrations, and query optimization.
• Fluent English for remote collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain robust backend services capable of handling high-volume global traffic.
• Implement functional APIs and optimize query performance to ensure a seamless user experience.
• Contribute to our modular architecture, helping us build resilient, service-oriented systems.
• Write clean, maintainable code by applying SOLID principles, OOP best practices, and design patterns.
• Master the art of debugging, identifying and resolving issues across our stack with precision.
• Integrate asynchronous processes using queues and basic event-driven patterns to improve system efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with Senior Engineers and Product teams to turn requirements into high-quality technical solutions.
