Job summary

James Gray Associates has partnered with a growing education organisation to appoint a Payroll & Finance Officer. The role is predominantly remote with occasional travel to the Cheshire office, and you will own the in-house payroll across multiple academies.

You will manage end-to-end payroll, pensions, and related finance tasks, reporting to the Finance Manager and supporting broader financial administration as the team grows.

Qualifications

• Experience running monthly payroll end-to-end.
• Education payroll experience in schools/academies is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of PAYE, pensions and UK payroll regulations.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end monthly payroll for multiple academies and central team.
• Process payroll deductions and submissions before deadlines.
• Handle payroll queries with employees, schools and HMRC.
• Administer Teachers' Pensions and LGPS requirements.
• Support month-end reconciliations and reporting.
• Assist wider finance team with invoices and administration.
• Provide payroll guidance to colleagues and improve processes.
