Job summary

Monzo is seeking a Data Director in Payments to shape payments strategy, scale data initiatives, and drive revenue and customer growth across geographies. You will partner with Product, Engineering and Design to deliver a resilient, self-serve banking platform while maintaining a focus on commercial viability and execution.

The role sits within Monzo’s Data Discipline, reporting to Payments leadership. We expect strong leadership, strategic thinking, and a track record of leading data teams

Qualifications

• Experience driving payments innovation and product strategy in a fast-growing business.
• Deep Data expertise with strong product and commercial judgment.
• Ability move from metrics or architecture discussions to pricing and business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Establish yourself as a trusted Payments Leadership team member enabling better decisions across Payments and the wider Data Discipline.
• Co-drive Payments strategy and product decisions with Product and Engineering.
• Identify opportunities for commercial optimisation, including pricing, invest and growth.
• Set the data strategy for Payments: operating model, priorities, architecture, debt and key metrics.
• Translate between technical, product and commercial perspectives to support high-impact decisions.
• Develop and scale a high-performing data team with shared accountability.
